"Portkonstruktion för mirakelpappersfabriken"

Uppgift A

År 2075 har man uppfunnit ett nytt banbrytande byggnadsmaterial: mirakelpapper. Det tillverkas i mycket tunna vita skivor med storleken 14,85 m x 10,50 m och ingen färg fastnar på dem. Mirakelpappersfabriken vill marknadsföra det nya materialet och därför bygga en tredimensionell portkonstruktion av mirakelpappret för fotgängare på fabriksområdet. Enligt designanvisningarna ska portstrukturen

• väcka intresse för mirakelpappret som byggnadsmaterial
• vara minst 12 meter hög
• utformas så att minst två personer kan gå sida vid sida genom den
• byggas med endast en skiva mirakelpapper. Det kan formas fritt, till exempel genom att klippa och vika, men inga delar får avlägsnas från skivan.

UTFÖRANDE: Designa och skapa en miniatyrmodell av mirakelpappersfabrikens portkonstruktion i skala 1:50 (1 centimeter i miniatyrmodellen motsvarar 50 centimeter i verkligheten) enligt designanvisningarna. Använd ett – och endast ett – vitt A4-ark vanligt kopieringspapper som material för miniatyrmodellen, vilket alltså representerar mirakelpappersskivan. 

När du fotograferar den färdiga miniatyrmodellen ska du också inkludera en personfigur på 3,5 centimeter intill portkonstruktionen för att ge en uppfattning av skalan. Hur personfiguren presenteras är valfritt och kommer inte att bedömas som en del av uppgiften. Ta ett illustrativt fotografi av din miniatyrmodell mot en svart bakgrund (se exempelbilden nedan). Miniatyrmodellen ska kunna stå upprätt på fotograferingsunderlaget.

BEDÖMNING: Vid bedömningen av uppgiften beaktas i första hand den kreativa lösningen, den innovativa och tredimensionella användningen av materialet samt hur prydlig miniatyrmodellen är.

Uppgift B

Mitt under en solig dag griper en kraftig vindby tag i mirakelpappersfabrikens portkonstruktion, som du designat, precis när du närmar dig den. Du tittar på portkonstruktionen som svävar ovanför dig och märker att även om vinden har förvrängt dess former kan du fortfarande urskilja den ursprungliga formen på strukturen. De närmaste delarna av portstrukturen är ungefär två meter ifrån dig. Teckna vad du ser i det ögonblicket.

UTFÖRANDE: Med blyertspennor på ett vitt liggande A3-papper.

BEDÖMNING: Vid bedömningen av uppgiften beaktas i första hand förmågan att förmedla rumsligt djup, återge ljus och skugga samt teckningsfärdigheter.

Uppgift C

Vinden förde mirakelpappersfabrikens portkonstruktion till en närliggande park. När portkonstruktionen slog i marken fick den stora skador och bröts i tre delar, som hamnade bredvid varandra och delvis ovanpå varandra. Det beslutades dock att resterna av porten skulle lämnas kvar i parken, eftersom de visade sig fungera som underlag och stöd för växterna där. Du återvänder till platsen efter några år och när du kryper in i ruinerna av portstrukturen ser du att de tre delarna av portstrukturen har bildat sammanhängande, skyddade och grönskande utrymmen där ljuset silar in vackert. Samtidigt märker du att trots skadorna och växtligheten är några av portkonstruktionens ursprungliga drag fortfarande möjliga att känna igen. Teckna och/eller måla vad du ser i det ögonblicket.

UTFÖRANDE: Med valfri teknik på ett vitt liggande A3-papper.

BEDÖMNING: Vid bedömningen av uppgiften beaktas i första hand framställningen av atmosfär och ljus, presentationen av de sammanhängande utrymmena och krypperspektivet samt tecknings- och/eller målarfärdigheter.

Inlämning av uppgifterna A, B och C

 (sammanlagt tre pdf-sidor i A3-format)

Sammanställ uppgifterna A, B och C (sammanlagt tre bilder) i en pdf-fil med tre sidor. Det är tillåtet att redigera bilderna digitalt. Upplösningen på den färdiga bilden ska vara ungefär 300 dpi, dock högst 600 dpi.

Anvisningar för inlämning 

Förhandsuppgifterna lämnas in elektroniskt i Studieinfo. Alla som söker till ansökningsmålen arkitektur och landskapsarkitektur får en förfrågan om bilagor på ansökningsblanketten. Förhandsuppgifterna ska fotograferas/skannas och göras till en pdf-fil på tre sidor. Filen ska namnges enligt formatet efternamn_förnamn.pdf. Rekommenderad filstorlek är 1–100 MB (den högsta tillåtna storleken för filer i Studieinfo är 1.0 GB). Den sökande ansvarar för att filen som hen lämnar in är av tillräckligt hög kvalitet för att bedömas. 

Ansökan ska vara inlämnad i Studieinfo (vårens andra gemensamma ansökan) före slutet av ansökningstiden 25.3.2025 kl. 15.00 (inlämningen ska vara slutförd kl. 14.59). Förhandsuppgifterna ska också vara uppladdade i ansökan i Studieinfo före slutet av ansökningstiden 25.3.2025 kl. 15.00 (inlämningen ska vara slutförd kl. 14.59). Observera att det kan vara högt tryck i Studieinfo under de sista dagarna av ansökningstiden, vilket kan påverka systemets funktion. Det är rekommenderat att du laddar upp förhandsuppgifterna i god tid, så att de säkert har laddats upp innan tidsfristen för ansökningstiden. Kom ihåg att också klicka ”Skicka ansökan” efter att ha gjort ändringar eller lagt till bilagor på ansökningsblanketten.

Kollegiet som ansvarar för antagningen bedömer uppgifterna anonymt, så skriv inte ditt namn på bilderna. Att skriva sitt namn synligt på en uppgift kan leda till att förhandsuppgifterna underkänns. 

Förhandsuppgifterna bedöms enligt skalan godkänd/underkänd och ingen respons ges på dem. Det går att begära omprövning av bedömningen av förhandsuppgifterna först efter att resultaten för vårens andra gemensamma ansökan har publicerats. 

Viktigt: Förhandsuppgifterna utgör den första fasen i antagningen och är en del av antagningsprocessen. Förhandsuppgifterna ska göras självständigt och utan handledning. Universitetens personal ger varken närmare information eller anvisningar gällande uppgifterna.

‘Gate structure of the Wonderpaper factory’

Task A

The year 2075 has seen the development of a revolutionary new building material: Wonderpaper. Wonderpaper is produced in very thin, white sheets that are 14.85 m x 10.50 m in size and to which no colour adheres. The Wonderpaper factory wants to promote the new material and have a three-dimensional pedestrian gate structure built out of Wonderpaper for the factory premises. The design instructions given for the gate structure state that it should

• Spark interest in Wonderpaper as a building material
• Have a minimum height of 12 metres
• Be wide enough for at least two people to walk through it side by side
• Be built out of only a single sheet of Wonderpaper, which may be modified freely by, for instance, slitting or folding; however, you must not remove any pieces of the sheet.

EXECUTION: Plan and build a scale model of the gate structure at a scale of 1:50 (1 centimetre in the model equals 50 centimetres in real life) following the design instructions given. Build the scale model using one – and only one – sheet of white A4-sized plain printing paper, which represents a sheet of Wonderpaper. 

In your photograph of the finished scale model, you must also include an approximately 3.5-centimetre human figure in the proximity of the model to give a sense of scale. You can represent the human figure in any way you wish, and it will not be evaluated as part of the assignment. Take an illustrative photograph of your scale model against a black background (see picture below for instructions). The scale model must be able to stand on its own on the surface of the background sheet.

EVALUATION: The evaluation will primarily focus on the applicant’s creativity in solving the task, the insightful three-dimensional use of material, and the neatness of the scale model.

Task B

In the middle of a sunny day, the Wonderpaper factory’s gate structure, built according to your design, is suddenly swept away by a violent gust of wind, just as you are approaching it. As you look at the gate structure soaring by overhead, you notice that although the wind has distorted some of its features, you can still discern the overall shape of the structure. The features closest to you are about two metres away. Draw what you see at that moment.

EXECUTION: Using pencils, make your drawing on a white, horizontal A3 sheet of paper.

EVALUATION: The evaluation will focus primarily on the applicant’s skill in conveying spatial depth and depicting light and shadow, as well as their drawing skills.

Task C

Wind swept up the gate structure of the Wonderpaper factory and dropped it into a nearby park. Upon hitting the ground, the gate was damaged badly, splitting into three pieces that lay on the ground next to each other and partly on top of each other. It was decided, nonetheless, to leave the gate’s remains in the park, as they were found to serve as a substrate and support for the plants there. You return to the scene a few years later and, when crawling into the ruins of the gate structure, you see that its three pieces have formed interrelated and sheltered lush green spaces, lit by exquisitely filtered light. At the same time, you notice that some of the gate structure’s original features are still discernible, despite the damage and vegetation. Draw and/or paint what you see at that moment.

EXECUTION: Your choice of technique on a white, horizontal A3 sheet of paper.

EVALUATION: The evaluation will focus primarily on the depiction of light and ambiance, the representation of the interrelating spaces and of the crawler’s perspective, as well as the drawing and/or painting skills.

Turning in tasks A, B and C

(three A3-sized PDF pages altogether)

Bundle the tasks A, B and C together (three images altogether) into one three-page PDF file. You are allowed to digitally edit the images. The resolution of the final images should be about 300 dpi (600 dpi at most).

Submission instructions 

Submit your completed advance assignments electronically through Studyinfo (studyinfo.fi). In Studyinfo, when you apply to a study option in architecture or landscape architecture, a prompt will appear on the application form asking you to append your advance assignments. The advance assignments must be photographed and/or scanned and attached as a single three-page PDF file. The name of the file must be in the form familyname_givenname.pdf. The recommended size of the file is 1–100 MB (files uploaded to Studyinfo may not exceed 1.0 GB). The applicant is responsible for ensuring that the file submitted is of sufficiently high quality for evaluation. 

The application must be submitted in Studyinfo (for the second joint application procedure of the spring) before the end of the application period on 25 March 2025 at 15.00 (i.e. the submission must be completed no later than 14.59). The advance assignments must also be uploaded to Studyinfo before the deadline of 25 March 2025 at 15.00 (i.e. the submission must be completed no later than 14.59). Please note that the functioning of the Studyinfo system may be disturbed by congestion in the last days of the application period before the submission deadline. Therefore, it is recommended that you upload your advance assignments well ahead of time so that they are definitely uploaded before the end of the application period. Remember to also submit the application after you have made changes or added attachments to the application form.

Do not write your name on your images, as the admissions committee for architecture evaluates the advance assignments anonymously; making your name directly visible on an assignment may lead to your advance assignments being rejected. 

The advance assignments are evaluated Pass/Fail, and no feedback is given on them.  Any request for administrative review (an appeal to the decision-making authority) of the evaluation may be submitted only after the results of the second joint application procedure of the spring have been published. 

IMPORTANT: The advance assignments are the first stage in the admissions process. The applicant must complete the assignments independently and without guidance. No staff of the joint admissions universities may clarify details or provide additional instructions about the tasks.
